The Prior Lake News Compass is nearing its one-year milestone of returning local news to Prior Lake. Board members, volunteers and part-time staff members continue to work tirelessly to provide quality news and information that impacts our community.

Now we need your help to support our efforts.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation, large or small, before the end of 2025. During the months of November and December, we have a unique opportunity to receive national matching funds through organizations that support local news efforts. Individual donations of up to $1,000 will be matched for a total of up to $15,000, and additional matching opportunities are available for community news operations such as ours. We will also participate in Minnesota’s Give to the Max Day on Nov. 20.

We are a nonprofit organization that provides local news content, free of charge. But like any business, we must have adequate funding for our ongoing expenses. Our goal is to raise $100,000 through contributions and matched funds before the end of 2025 so we can hire a full-time editor and additional part-time news and sales staff. With everyone’s help, we are confident we can achieve that goal.

We’re most grateful to our founding donors and local service organizations (listed below) who believed in us from the beginning. We also extend our thanks to our advertisers for being part of every edition. The donations received from individuals have also been greatly appreciated.

Our audience continues to grow literally every day, with our subscriber list now nearing 2,500. Others who are interested in Prior Lake news visit our website regularly. We’ll provide more details about what we’ve achieved to date and our plans going forward in future emails that will be sent in the coming weeks.

If you find value in what we’re doing, please help us by making a contribution now while your donation can be doubled through the matching funds program. We can’t be successful without your help.

Donations are tax deductible and can be made using this link. Checks may also be mailed to: Prior Lake News Compass, PO Box 75, Prior Lake, MN, 55372.

If you have contributed in the past, thank you. We ask that you continue to support the Prior Lake News Compass during the next two months when contributions are doubled. For those who have not yet made a donation, know that it is our ongoing commitment to provide information about local news, schools and city, public safety and events well into the future.

Please help us to ensure this essential public service continues for the Prior Lake community.
