Congratulations to the U17 girls team that is part of the Prior Lake Soccer Club. They went to Denver, played other outstanding teams from across the country and came back as national champions. Way to go, girls!

Rotary’s Lakefront Music Fest draws thousands as rock, country legends perform favorites

Prior Lake Rotary's Lakefront Music Fest did not disappoint the more than 28,000 who attended the two-day music festival held at Lakefront Park.

It was the organization's 16th year of hosting the event. Friday, July 11, was designated as rock night, featuring Loverboy, 38 Special and Foreigner. One of the highlights of the evening included members of the Prior Lake High Choir being invited to sing "I Want to Know What Love Is", one of Foreigner's biggest hits, on stage with the group.

Country artists were on stage Saturday night with Dillon Carmichael, Randy Houser and Miranda Lambert entertaining the large crowd.

Miracle League field scheduled to open this fall at Ryan Memorial Park

Maggie Stanwood | Prior Lake will get its own Miracle League field this fall, enabling children and adults the opportunity to play baseball in a safe, inclusive environment. The goal of the national organization aims to address barriers and create a space for everyone to belong.

Volunteers needed to search for invasive species in Prior Lake, others around state

Staff Report | Local volunteers are needed on Saturday, Aug. 9, to help search for starry stonewort, an aquatic invasive algae that can spread easily and form dense mats in lakes. The event is being held in cooperation with the Prior Lake-Spring Lake Watershed District. Sand Point Beach Park in Prior Lake will be one of 23 training sites being hosted around the state.

Schools

Special election being held in November to fill vacancy on PLSAS board

Persons living in the Prior Lake-Savage Area School District who are interested in serving on the school board can file an affidavit of candidacy beginning July 29. A special election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 4. One person will be elected to fill the vacancy with the term expiring Jan. 4, 2027.

Prior Lake Soccer Club's U17 team wins national title

The U17 girls team with the Prior Lake Soccer Club competed in the National Premier League (NPL) held in Denver from July 7-11 and returned to Prior Lake as champions.

July 20 | Garden Party at Franciscan Retreats Center - Prior Lake
The Franciscan Retreats and Spirituality Center is hosting a Garden Party on Sunday, July 20, from 1 to 3 p.m. Attendees will be invited to stroll the gardens on the grounds, tour the Retreat Center, chapel and library.
July 20 | Summer Festival - St. Patrick’s Church, New Prague
St. Patrick's Church of Cedar Lake will host its annual Summer Festival on Sunday, July 20. Families can enjoy a grilled chicken dinner, bingo, a country store and much more.
July 25 | Windjammers concert - Lakefront Park
The Prior Lake Windjammers will be playing at the park between 6 and 7 p.m. in the park's bandshell. Bring a lawn chair, friends and family for the free concert.
August 8-9 | Prior Lake Days - sponsored by Prior Lake Chamber of Commerce
Check back in the coming weeks for updates on “Prior Lake Days” scheduled for Aug. 8-9 and hosted by the Prior Lake Chamber of Commerce. Friday festivities will include a “Sip and Stroll” in the downtown area. Saturday has been designated as “Family Day.”
August 14 | Youth Art & Craft Market - Twin Oaks Middle School
The Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools Community Education Department will host a Youth Art & Craft Market on Thursday, Aug. 14, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Twin Oaks Middle School.
August 26 | Golf fundraiser for ‘Choose Not to Use’ - Legends Golf Club
The Scott County Public Safety Foundation will host its annual golf tournament fundraiser scheduled for Aug. 26 at Legends Golf Club in Prior Lake to support the "Choose Not to Use" program.
