July 4th festivities served as the official kick-off and there will be many more fun events planned for all ages between now and the next official holiday in September.

Prior Lake was the place to be celebrating July 4

Some were quirky, identifying the theme of others may have taken some time. All were colorful, creative and made for another fun holiday on Prior Lake.

Welcome to the July 4 boat parade, a tradition upheld for years by the Prior Lake Association. Those celebrating the holiday gathered on the shore or found a way to get on the water to view the small flotilla of themed entries. All were vying for a top spot in the annual parade in an effort to earn one of the cash prizes and bragging rights.

Expect traffic delays, temporary road closures on Friday, Saturday nights

by Staff Report | Prior Lake Rotary's Lakefront Music Fest will be held in Lakefront Park this Friday and Saturday, July 11 and 12, which will bring significantly more traffic to the city. Travel delays in and around the city should be expected both nights.

Prior Lake-Spring Lake Watershed District completes repairs on outlet channel

by Staff Report | The Prior Lake-Spring Lake Watershed District recently completed a major maintenance project on the Prior Lake Outlet Channel. The project is expected to double the lifespan of the only outlet for Prior Lake's 30-square-mile watershed.

Recent PLHS grad battling brain cancer with determination, positive outlook

Gymnastics was Brooklynne Thorson’s life. After experiencing vision problems and headaches, a medical diagnosis revealed she had a brain tumor, which was surgically removed. A recent check-up revealed the growth of another tumor. The biopsy results determined she had brain cancer.

Credit River Antique Tractor Show being held at Cedar Lake Farm June 18-20

July 18-20 | Cedar Lake, New Prague 

The Credit River Antique Tractor Club will host its 26th annual tractor show July 18-20 at Cedar Lake Farm, located near New Prague. Antique tractors, equipment and vehicles will be on display and feature a kids' barrel train, hay rides and a tractor parade each day.

July 11 | Beach party at Sand Point - Prior Lake
The City of Prior Lake's Park and Recreation department will host a beach party at Sand Point on Friday, July 11. The event will include free activities such as face painting, wacky hair coloring, games, and crafts.

July 17 | Garden Club plans two tours - Two Twin Cities locations
All are welcome to join the Prior Lake Garden Club for two free garden tours the evening of July 17. One is located in Bloomington, and the other in Minneapolis.

June 18 | Sunshine Club hosts golf fundraiser - Creeks Bend Golf Course
The Club will host its 2nd Annual Sunshine Swing Golf Tournament. The tournament will feature an 11 a.m. shotgun start, a four-person scramble, prizes, a silent auction, and a raffle. The cost is $110 per person, which includes 18 holes of golf, a cart and dinner.

July 20 | Summer Festival - St. Patrick’s Church, New Prague
St. Patrick's Church of Cedar Lake will host its annual Summer Festival on Sunday, July 20. Families can enjoy a grilled chicken dinner, bingo, a country store and much more.

July 25 | Windjammers concert - Lakefront Park
The Prior Lake Windjammers will be playing at the park between 6 and 7 p.m. in the park's bandshell. Bring a lawn chair, friends and family for the free concert.

August 8-9 | Prior Lake Days, sponsored by Prior Lake Chamber of Commerce
Check back in the coming weeks for updates on “Prior Lake Days” scheduled for Aug. 8-9 and hosted by the Prior Lake Chamber of Commerce. Friday festivities will include a “Sip and Stroll” in the downtown area. Saturday has been designated as “Family Day.”

August 14 | Youth Art & Craft Market - Twin Oaks Middle School
The Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools Community Education Department will host a Youth Art & Craft Market on Thursday, Aug. 14, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Twin Oaks Middle School.

Ongoing | Walking Strolls on Mondays - Cleary Lake Regional Park
Area residents are invited to participate in a "Morning Stretch and Stroll" program at Cleary Lake Regional Park for those age 55 and up. Morning strolls will be scheduled on Mondays in July from 9 to 9:30 a.m.
