Monday is Memorial Day, a holiday set aside to honor those who have died while serving our country. Its origin came a few years following the end of the Civil War when more than 5,000 people gathered at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C., to decorate the graves of more than 20,000 soldiers who were buried there. While the day is intended to honor the dead, it's certainly appropriate to thank all men and women who have served our great nation, not only on Memorial Day, but every day.
