Just when we thought winter might be over... Tuesday night's blizzard came through to dash the hopes of an early spring emergence. The National Weather Service reported a foot of snow fell in Credit River, while 10.5 inches of fresh accumulation was measured in Prior Lake, with the wet, sticky snow drifts approaching two feet high in some places. Don't get too attached to snow cover, as temperatures are expected to approach 50 degrees this weekend!

School board reaches consensus on $4.1 million in budget cuts for 2025-26
When a bond measure in 2024 to raise funds for the district failed, leaders within the Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools district set forth on the difficult task of finding budget cuts to keep the district on track.
After months of deliberation and with a $4 million cut already in hand for the 2024-25 year, district officials say they have a consensus on another $4.1 million dollars in cuts for next school year.
ADVERTISEMENTS
Among next year’s budget cuts are staffing reductions, increased class sizes and the closing of facilities like the pool at Twin Oaks Middle School.
The projected budget shortfall only worsens beyond next school year, and the district is considering additional measures, including closing the District Services Center.
