Spring is just around the corner if you can ignore the weather forecasts for the next few days. This month also marks the conclusion of the winter sports season and the Prior Lake Lakers have much to celebrate. The stories included in this week's newsletter highlight the accomplishments of the boys swimming and diving team and boys basketball team. Congrats to all!

PL relay swims a great rate at state

No need for the old, tired cliches sports editors love to use for swimming headlines. Yes, Prior Lake swimmers made a splash at the state meet last weekend. Yes, they made waves, too.

But it was a season paved with gold that set up the Lakers with even more hardware to finish off the campaign.

School records fell as the team had high-quality swims in individual and relay events, but it was the first final of the day, the 200 medley relay, that was the crown jewel.

Ethan Kosin, Owen Beaudette, Griffin Leining and Braxton Helmers earned a win in the final with an All-American qualifying time, a key race in securing Prior Lake third place in the meet. It wasn’t the only impressive finish of the meet for PL swimmers and divers, however.
