The Prior Lake News Compass appreciates feedback we get from readers about how we can improve coverage on local news topics. We will be hosting a community meeting on Tuesday, April 15, at the Twin Oaks Middle School Media Center, 15860 Fish Point Rd., Prior Lake, beginning at 7 p.m. which will include an update on how our volunteer-led project has progressed since starting three months ago. Silver success for Prior Lake Special Olympian

Drew Hennen has tried nearly every sport under the sun, but it is snowshoeing that has put him on the international map.

The 20-year-old local resident recently placed second in the 200-meter event at the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Turin, Italy.

Talking about his experience comes with a big smile and exuberance for that sport and others. He water skis in the summer months with Shockwaves, the Shakopee-Prior Lake Waterski Club, and has tried his hand at nearly every other sport, including bowling, soccer, basketball, track and golf.

Drew traveled with Special Olympics team members, flying from Minneapolis to New York, and then on to Turin where he stayed with other athletes in the Olympic Village from March 5-17.
