Roers withdrew its request to vacant property next to the District Services Center.
Potential buyer of property adjacent to DSC withdraws rezoning request
The sale of the District Service Center (DSC) owned by Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools is now in question as the anticipated buyer withdrew its application requesting the City of Prior Lake rezone the adjacent property to make way for construction of a large apartment complex.
The City of Prior Lake’s Planning Commission held a public hearing July 6. A representative from Roers Companies, a national construction and property development firm located in Plymouth, outlined the project that would include three- and four-story buildings and encompass a total of 166 apartments.

Aug. 1 • Rev It For A Reason Motorcycle Ride - Chula’s, downtown Prior Lake
The "Rev It For A Reason" motorcycle charity ride is being planned for Saturday, Aug. 1, and all proceeds will benefit the Think Great Foundation.
Rider registration will open at 10 a.m. at Chula's Mexican-Latin Food and Spirits, 4636 Colorado St., in downtown Prior Lake. Riders will depart for the scenic ride at noon and travel through southern Minnesota. The ride will end in downtown Prior Lake where festivities will continue.

July 30 • Teen wire sculpture workshop - Prior Lake Library
From 3 to 4 p.m., students ages 12-18 can learn fundamental wire bending and shaping techniques to design and create a small sculpture to take home.
July 31 • Chalk art craft session - Prior Lake Library
Young community members can express their creativity during a volunteer-led craft session from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Aug. 1 • Mark Miller Band floating concert - Grainwood Bay
The outdoor performance is designed specifically as a boat-up event. Listen from any watercraft, including motorboats, pontoons, canoes, kayaks and paddleboards.
Aug. 4 • Night to Unite - Prior Lake
Neighborhoods across the city will host block parties as local public safety agencies and municipal departments participate in Minnesota’s annual celebration.
Aug. 5 • Cook Book Club - Prior Lake Library
The theme for the August event is "summer picnic." Those who attend can select any recipe, prepare it and bring the completed dish to the meeting.
August 6, 13, 20, 27 • Shockwaves water ski show - Quarry Lake
Enjoy the final days of summer while watching the Shockwaves Show Team put on a great show.
Aug. 13 • Youth Art & Craft Market - Hidden Oaks Middle School
Nearly 50 young creators and artists will be selling their hand-made work from 4 to 6 p.m. during the annual event.
Aug. 20 • Annual summer blood drive - Dakotah! Sport and Fitness Lobby
Dakotah! Sport and Fitness is partnering with Memorial Blood Centers to host its annual event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donors will receive a free 16-oz smoothie voucher.
Aug. 21 • Pickup Truck Opera - Lakefront Park
Staged around a mobile pickup truck and flatbed trailer, the performance blends classical opera arrangements with popular music, featuring a cast of singers, multi-instrumentalists and puppeteers.
Aug. 28 • Skitzo Fonik performance - Lakefront Park
The City of Prior Lake’s free summer concert series continues as a local cover band takes the stage from 6 to 8 p.m.
